Alexandria Pediatric Dentistry was formed in 2008 as a Partnership between Dr. Anna Moreau and her father Dr. Richard Brasher. Dr. Brasher was born and raised in Central Louisiana and began practicing pediatric dentistry in Alexandria in 1972. He proudly introduced our friend and mascot, Bippo the Hippo, to the community in 1978 and Bippo has become a well recognized and loved member of the community.
Dr. Anna was proud to join her father’s long standing pediatric dental practice in 2006 and together they renamed and launched the business that exists today. The two doctors combined 45 years of experience with new ideas, knowledge, technology and dental materials in order to bring the highest quality of care to the pediatric patients of Central Louisiana. That mission of providing the highest quality, up to date, compassionate dental care still drives us today.
The legacy of dentists in the family: It truly DOES run in the family.
Dr. Richard R. Brasher, Sr., aka PawPaw, is the patriarch of our dental family. His early adult years were spent as a Louisiana State Trooper. He decided to go to dental school as a second career, and enrolled in dental school in New Orleans when my dad, Richard R. Brasher, Jr. was 8 years old. Upon graduating dental school he returned to Alexandria and practiced general dentistry with his cousin, Dr. Edwards, in Pineville, LA until his retirement in 1980.
Dr. Richard R. Brasher, Jr., aka Daddy, was the next dentist in line and he entered dental school at Loyola in 1964. After graduation he served in the Air Force for two years before beginning his residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry and Children’s Hospital in Dallas. Dr. Brasher then returned to Alexandria and practiced pediatric dentistry from 1972 until his retirement in 2017.
Dr. Anna Brasher Moreau, aka me, was the next to follow. I was inspired by my father and grandfather and also by my mom, who is a dental hygienist and my stepfather who is a general dentist, both practicing in San Antonio, TX.
To say the dental blood runs deep in my family is an understatement. We are a family who is passionate about teeth and committed to creating healthy smiles, both big and small. I was surrounded by inspiring mentors who taught me the beauty of this wonderful profession, the joys of owning your own business, the privilege and joy of treating patients, both young and old, and the opportunity to better a life by creating a healthy smile.
It is with much pride that I say Alexandria Pediatric Dentistry has served children of Central Louisiana for 47 years. And hopefully, many more to come!
